As already mentioned, the fan is very quiet. The wall remote was not used and I ordered a hand held remote which works fine. You must allow the acceleration process to go through after powering on for the remote to work properly. The 4.5" hanging rod was imperfect as it didn't have a hole drilled into it at the bottom, but since I ordered a 12" rod it worked better and had holes on both ends. I installed the fan before putting on the blades and it takes a steady hand to tighten the screws attached to the brackets. But once it was fixed, the fan didn't wobble and I didn't have to balance the blades. I don't think the literature makes it clear that a portable remote control is all you need and that it works well enough. Overall a good fan.
