It works but you have very little control over what it does. Mine doesn't even have a red gain reduction LED. Only green for electricity. The only control you have is the threshold. You set a point at how loud the incoming signal must be before the limiter starts reducing the gain. The Make-up Gain control allows you to increase the overall sound level coming out of this unit to compensate for the limiter roll off. It doesn't set any limiter options at all. Adjusting the volume of any audio file you have afterwards will do the same thing. A ratio control would be nice and maybe even just a fast/slow switch, as well as a simple gain reduction LED strip on the front. I hate sounding like I'm taking the device apart. If you carefully adjust the audio input level at the source and the threshold control, the device will handle the basic limitation just fine. And it's tiny, so it's easy to work with. Made in the USA
