We have two 10ft plastic kayaks. They go VERY well with this shelf. The brackets included are excellent: two around the kayak on the roof rails and two ratchet brackets for the bow and stern. You'll probably need a line (I use parachute line) to make loops in the front and back ports of the kayak(s) to attach the ratchet hooks. Installation was easy. In addition, they are easy to disassemble and store (recommended to prevent weathering of rubber and rusting of metal fittings). I haven't tried the included paddle carrying system, but our paddles fall apart and pack just as easily in the back of the car. I believe this one will work just as well as any of the more expensive versions.
