I have a 10 gallon aquarium and personally I prefer this cleaner to the regular $10 PetSmart. The first pro should probably be the snorkel, it's so flexible and doesn't retain curls or knots like the typical snorkel on these things. Another thing is that it doesn't soak up gravel. in a bucket. Gravel can easily overtake the pipe leading into the tank. Another thing is that this vacuum cleaner, I would say, is more difficult to start than traditional ones. It took me a little time to get it working, but once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to get started. I also prefer to pump the way it sucks, just easier than squeezing the whole hose and releasing my other vacuum. Overall pretty good.
