I almost bought it because there are few reviews and the few I read are fair. For my three-gallon salty bowl, I decided to take a chance. I'm not disappointed at all. Based on the reviews I figured I would need to use it for about 14 hours and at full intensity, but I grew way more algae than I needed. I set it to its lowest intensity and even then decided 12 hours was too long to turn it on. I've currently been using it for 10 hours and can lift it over 4 inches above the water. My Complaints: For $129, the gooseneck should be (with cheap plastic screws that I'll probably swap out for real ones from Home Depot). I didn't notice any flickering. Since I set it to the lowest intensity and amber I don't see the point of a Spectral Controller when a regular timer works just fine.
