Nothing for graphic designers

Before I start this review I just want everyone to know that I'm not a fan of monitors. I have no idea about gamma and such. I only know what is right and what is wrong. I've been trying to sneak around with a budget monitor to connect to my Mac Mini which I use for graphic design and illustration. I've had an iMac for over 15 years, so I was used to high quality screens, but I didn't realize HOW spoiled I was. After seeing this Samsung monitor on several "best budget monitors for graphic designers" lists, I decided to give it a try. When I first installed this monitor I was very excited at how huge it was compared to my previous 21 inch monitor. iMac. But after trying to use it in a real project, I immediately realized that it wouldn't help. First, the viewing angle is terrible. If you turn the head a little, the colors/brightness will shift. If you stand up or step aside, the screen is almost invisible. And because of the large screen size (32"), when you sit directly in front of the screen, the center of the screen looks fine, but you almost have to turn your head to see the sides of the screen and the color change is huge. Um To better describe the problem I created a solid brown rectangle covering my screen from top to bottom. The center of the screen was brown as expected. The top of the square was rusty brown and the bottom of the square was almost a tanish beige. This is not the monitor you want to use because I returned this monitor and spent an additional $150 to buy a Dell 27" U2720QM Ultrasharp Monitor and the difference in quality is huge. It's still not quite iMac level, but he's much closer.

Pros
  • SLEEK SHAPE: With slim bezels and a sleek matte black finish, the UJ59 looks sleek on almost any desk; And its Y-shaped stand offers a secure hold and a sophisticated metallic finish.
