Review on WAVLINK Weatherproof Extender Dual Polarized Omnidirectional by Satish Greener

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All is well! There are better devices for less money. This is WiFi 1X1.

Update 7/28/2017 Switched the unit to repeater mode and it worked fine in our timeshare. I decided to hook up a cheap $28 NETGEAR ROUTER that "was bought at Wal-Mart this week." I was amazed that it worked very well. I placed the wavlink on the railing on the balcony 30 meters away and placed the router in the basement coming out of the bedroom. Since the building contains a lot of concrete, steel, and other non-WiFi-compatible materials, this worked surprisingly well and without too many problems. I just connected an ethernet cable from the POE adapter's Wavlink Lan port to the router's internet port and it worked. Had to make sure the router is in DHCP mode and the router's WIFI name and PW is all. But again, I've made sure I can easily get to the reset button on Wavlink. This allowed us to better replicate the WIFI for the timeshare office to the area around our building, and we got WIFI in the building using a NetGear router and part of the signal from the repeater in our building. Will try it in my camper this winter. ------------------------ --------------------- ----- ------------------- --------------------- ---------- -------------- ----------------------- At first I didn't do it at all as the device has unusual software . And make sure you set it up so you can get to the reset button. This works well as a laptop wifi adapter and has a good range to a wifi hotspot. Works well as a wifi repeater. When I first said it was a Wi-Fi repeater, the software got weird and I had to reset. I reset it several times after trying different modes, Hotspot, WISP and Repeater. I never managed to get WISP to work. But after several resets the repeater mode worked. It had a nasty bug in the software. I bought 3 of these and they were all the same. After finally getting them to work in AP mode, repeater mode worked after a reset, I have no idea why! I would buy this device again if the price was less than 50€. But Ubiquiti makes a 2x2 antenna driven unit a bit more expensive, with 4 antennas. So for this money I will buy it in the future. I have replaced 2 of 3 units, one of which is still airborne on my farm covering 5 acres of land, mounted 15ft in the air on the side of a Rohn 25G antenna tower. If you buy it, it works very well on a laptop as an adapter, when traveling like in a camper van. But make sure resetting is easy!
