Review on 🧡 Lacis GB91 0.8mm Verna Beadle Needle with Crook, 7.5-Inch: Easy & Precise Beadweaving Tool by Kristen Reid

Odd angle, very awkward to hold

I use beads all the time for knitting and have them I have many used a variety of needles including tiny crochet hooks, beading thread and straight Lacis beads. That crooked beadle needle is just weird. The impostor is at a strange angle. Instead of the hook being on top of the needle when you hold it in the neutral position (i.e. in your hand with the extra bead down), the hook is actually on the side. Therefore, you must hold the needle straight out of the way for each bead stitch. And when it twists in the middle of the stitch (which it certainly does, since the 60 beads held straight to the sides create a lever arm), the hook will grab the layers of yarn and tangle. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see a way to make it more convenient. And by the way, when I'm paying $15 for a piece of wire, I expect at least a plastic storage tube. be included. I can buy it from the manufacturer for $10 and they also include a hose and extra plugs. It was in a flimsy plastic bag that wasn't safe to store, and a "helpful suggestion" on the main page that the storage tube costs an additional $7.50. Do not want it. For reference, I tested the crochet hook on both tip and finger yarn (KP Stroll) with 8/0 beads. It was a bit tight with the fingers, but it worked great.

Pros
  • Hardened steel blunt point needle with hook on one end and rounded on the other for use with a bead spinning machine
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Not as self explanatory as it seemed. I just couldn't get it to work properly for me.

Great for beading if you don't have a crochet hook that small.
