I own an auto repair shop. I have been with BMW for almost 10 years and have used different types and brands of smoke machines. I borrowed this particular model from another independent shop that did some work for them and found it to look less "expensive" and less tech than the Vacutec dealer version. When I started my business I had to buy it for myself and did extensive research on how I do everything I buy. and found that this device is "undoubtedly" the best device. Two reasons that are very important: 1) This device does not require a nitrogen tank to test EVAP systems. The danger of using factory air to test EVAP systems for leaks is that in the presence of oxygen, fuel vapor and a spark/heat source, a potential combination for an explosion occurs. Most other devices require the use of nitrogen as an air source for EVAP testing because their heat source for generating smoke is a potential spark. Redline does not use a similar heat source, eliminating the need for nitrogen (=SAVING $$$).2) The smoke solution used for the Redline unit is baby oil only. yes, baby oil, which is very inexpensive (=$$$). $SAVE) and the use of dyes is not recommended as they have been found to cause problems in EVAP systems in the future. let's be honest When was the last time you saw a smoke leak and needed color to show you the exact spot after you shut off the smoke? Yeah, I can't think of a time either. Other brands use a VERY expensive "smoke solution" that their devices require, costing over $70 for 8 ounces. Bottle.
