Have i4. Ran a bunch of NiMH, NiCD and LiPo and all worked except one. The NiMH got VERY hot, but the charger still worked. I didn't want to check IDK whether the protection would have worked or not. AA and AAA batteries can be difficult to place and batteries may need to be moved/rotated before they recognize this. Sometimes the battery will fly out of the charger because it is not 100% balanced between the contacts. Contacts could be better designed to prevent this. Possibly with a concave positive contact.
