I wash them by hand at the same time as my daughter's special cups for school. Steel glasses last a very long time with proper care. Iced coffee in the morning to drink from morning to noon. And as always in the space suitcase, I put my glass down after taking my daughter to school and completely forgot about the drink. When I get home from the grocery store a few hours later, I see my forgotten drink next to my coffee maker, I pick it up and IT WAS STILL ICE CREAM! And the drink was still very cold! I've tried many different "lidded" mugs in my life and this is one of the few that was amazing! I love the way they close and it's way better than the screw tops. I prefer to hand wash these particular mugs so I'm not sure how well they will hold up in the dishwasher.
