I use my laptop on my lap almost all the time. The direct power connection was constantly under load and gradually failed. I often didn't notice it until I got a low battery warning. This really annoyed me and I think that the constant "torque" on the connection could end up damaging either the USB-c port on the laptop or the USB-c port itself. This problem disappears with the Sletech AC adapter. This power supply works great. There are no heat issues and I don't notice any difference in load times, but I don't have any data to back this up. I've only been using it for a few weeks, so I can't comment on durability. Now I don't have to worry about charging my battery when I need it. I don't like HP's warning about recommending an HP device. I think that manufacturers who insist on proprietary power adapters, cables or connectors contribute to electronics being thrown away. The U in USB stands for Universal. The first charger failed after a few months. The laptop has a CMOS checksum error. I wasn't sure if it was a laptop or a charger. So I bought a second one. The laptop worked, the charger was fine, so the problem caused by the first charger was solved. However, the second charger failed after 4 months. It shows the same checksum error. Do not buy this charger. I buy another brand. I may have to drop the 90 degree connection as similar Revain products have similar negative reviews.
