I bought this for my elderly cat who has slept on a pet made heat mat for years and eventually failed. So I bought this one and at first everything seemed fine. Bought in October. In the last month I've noticed that she doesn't sleep on it very often and for very long. Fascinated, I put my hand on him and realized that he was very, very warm. Much warmer than it should be. Her other heating pad was only warm if you left your hand on it for a while. I think the pet will feel like sitting on your lap. It's never going to be as hot as it is now. I would like to return it, but I don't see an option to do so. Anyway, it's too hot for a cat! Don't take this one. Now I use it as a back warmer. So hot.
