good tape measure for art supplies and tools

Good tape measure, 1 inch blade but still nice and light. The blade is white with black markings, most of the ones I've used recently have been yellow. When I pulled it out to measure, the white color caught my eye.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Not the best

Problems with the ribbon quality

I had the same quality problems with both ribbons despite having them replaced by the manufacturer. The bandstop does not stay in place and opens by itself when the band is moved. watch the video

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Good quality and visible Made in USA

This is much better quality than Harb Freight and prices are comparable. As long as they are fit for normal use. They're not heavy metal, but they seem to be very well made.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Nothing here

Not for regular use.

In order for the measuring tape to work, the hook on the measuring tape must remain attached. Unfortunately, this blade and hook are so poorly made that the hook broke after only a few weeks of use. A tape measure without a hook is useless - the tape measure sticks inside. Garbage. Maybe good in a kitchen drawer for light use, but not in the workplace.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Broke in less than a month with minimal use.

The locking mechanism has stopped working. Of course, that means you have to hold it open with one hand or it will retract. Cannot be used alone. It is therefore practically unusable for the household. Took long enough to get out of the return window. I keep hearing about the resurgence of the Craftsman name. But that's not the case.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Broke after about a month

I had to buy a tape measure for work and to save money I went with this cheaper measure. Its tip broke off after a few uses, rendering the tape unusable. The measure doesn't have the extra coverage that more expensive versions have. I wish I had bought the heavy ones which were more expensive.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Has stopped working after 2 months

This tape measure was ok but very short. After about two months, the lock holding the tape stopped working, and when I pulled the tape out, it immediately pulled back with a click, hitting my fingers sharply. No matter how many times I pressed the lock button, it just didn't work. I shouldn't have sent it back so I threw it away.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons

cut my thumb

is it just me or does it look like a misguided loaded gun when it retracts? I usually wear work gloves so that's not a problem but I just measured a section of floor without gloves, cleaned it, it was flying all over the place and the end of it cut off my thumb which I taped tightly around. before entering it. I'll spare you the photo. Yes, I've used a tape measure before, but another family member uses ours for a long-term project away from the office. Ouch.

Pros
  • weight
Cons
  • some little things

The lock does not hold the tape measure in the open position!

I bought this tape measure to photograph items for resale on ebay. I had to search a long time to find the white ribbon and not the yellow one. I was so happy that I finally found it. However, after less than two months of use, the lock does not keep the tape open. I set out my clothes to take photos, position the tape measure correctly, and before I can take a picture, it starts to close and ruins everything. I just threw him across the room after he did it four times in a row. Thats not good.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

I may have gotten a longer strap

I chose the 16 inch version thinking it might be a bit smaller than the longer straps. It doesn't seem to be. It's about 2 3/4 long and 1 1/2 wide, a bit larger than I expected (it was probably in the product description, I just didn't take the time to read it too carefully). I was more interested in the chrome-black look, which looks pretty cool depending on your taste. It's just inches on either side of the band (no metric). It has a limited lifetime warranty, but you must have proof of…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
