We regret that Miele changed the openings of their FJM bags some time ago. We did it, but it required extra steps when putting the new bag in our vacuum because the little valve wasn't always properly aligned or open when we connected the hose. More than once we had the interior of the vacuum covered in fine dust and dirt because that stupid flap was closing or the hole was misaligned. part you theoretically should have closed by pulling the bag out of the vacuum) we liked the fact that the hole was just open so you didn't have to worry about putting a new bag in. Simply plug it in, make sure it sits correctly and off you go. I stumbled upon these Filtrete bags by accident while looking for an alternative to Miele bags and we haven't looked back since. They work, they're a little cheaper, and that's enough for us. I haven't noticed any issues with dust/filtration or any other issues. We just put the bag in, make sure it's in place, and vacuum it up. I highly recommend them if you are looking for an alternative to MIele bags. Maybe Miele will understand that and go back to the old design, but I doubt it. Even so, here are bags that work great for less.
