Also see my review of the iSpring WGB22BM system it works with for some installation details. However, it works great when filtering out large particles. You can easily see the sediment at the bottom of the glass bowl, and opening the drain valve flushes out the dirt and is ready for another week or so, depending on the level of dirt. UPDATE: After a month I understand better how best to use this. There is a lot of sediment in our well water, and after running the WSP-50 filter for a week, the water pressure dropped noticeably when using more than one faucet at a time. The grid was covered with a fine reddish (ferrous) mud. I removed it and gave the strainer and bowl a thorough rinse with dish soap and a sponge. After cleaning and replacing, the water pressure was fine. I wash it daily now and have only had to take it apart and clean it every 3 weeks or so. I consider this stage to be an important part of the filtration system that helps extend the life of the main filter elements.
