As others have noted this light is quite bright but only when you are directly in front of it. Light levels drop as you move in either direction, and are fairly dim at 112 degrees, which is the US Coast Guard requirement for red/green nasal navigation lights. Overall I'd say it's a good flashlight for the money (less than the price of a replacement bulb for my original noselight) but poor design for what it's supposed to do. The LEDs had to be arranged in a 112-degree arc and not all face forward, as is the case. I went ahead and installed it, but will probably reinstall the old one with a new bulb if I can't find an inexpensive LED light that meets US Coast Guard regulations.
