but not so well when the lampshade doesn't let in enough light, e.g. the reader in the armchair. I wanted to make these devices "semi-smart" and not connect them to a wireless network (they're mostly wired, so a "smart plug" doesn't help). I'm not a fan of anything wireless/internet-enabled (reading lights, bathroom lights, etc.), but LED bulbs are so efficient that it makes sense to turn them on even in daylight when the room is dark, so a frail person needs to not reach for the light switch to turn it on, and it can control when the lights go out rather than setting a time that may not coincide with the event). Still working on a solution. Don't think there are lightbulbs. hear and respond to the "on" commands and "off" without "knowing" more?
