I can't say I've noticed much of a difference in the water after replacing the 50 micron filter with this one because I don't have a major sediment problem. But I'm glad the flow rate in the house doesn't seem to be any different. It's been installed for about 2 months now. I don't expect it to last as long as the 50's version, but if my water is cleaner then it's worth it. UPDATE September 17, 2010 I learned something the hard way - CHANGE THE FILTER REGULARLY! I waited for the flow rate to decrease to replace this filter but it never decreased. Then a month or two ago I noticed that the water was starting to smell and it was getting really, really bad. I'm on a well so I wasn't sure if it was due to groundwater alteration but then I thought of a filter. My god it was disgusting. Black, slimy and smelly and the paper was torn allowing the water to flow through without filtering hence no pressure loss. It was about 6 months of use at the well (without chlorine), which turned out to be too long. I would say that the filter needs to be changed every 2 months.
