Review on Safe and Comfortable: Peg Perego Orion Front Mount Child Seat by David Bar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality, quick installation, seat installation and removal in 10 seconds.

We bought a bell carrier for the first time on a whim while shopping. It was about $50 but it was terrible. Weak plastic and had to be practically welded to the bike making it impossible to remove. I found a review of the OKBaby Orion but it looks like it's only available in Europe but now Peg Perego has taken the same. model and made it available in the United States. First impressions upon opening the compact box were that it is very well made compared to the Bell, the plastic is stiffer but not too thick to make it heavy, there was enough padding, you also get all the mounting hardware you need needs, in a nice finish tub and not in a plastic bag which gives a feeling of good quality. Installing the mounting system (mostly the black block in the photo) was pretty easy, you choose the right size rubber. Headset spacer, then screw the 4 screws to the frame. It took about 15 minutes to fix and would have been easier with the small wrench that was included with a set of sockets. You then attach a metal support bar to the seat and it slides into the Orion mount. It takes about 10 seconds to attach and remove the seat, it's awesome and a lot stronger than you would expect. Using the bike seat is great. Our one year old little girl weighs about 20 pounds and fits in perfectly but there is still room for her when she grows up. We took her on a smooth bike path and she was confused at first but she seemed to enjoy it, we made her smile towards the end, I'm sure she will enjoy it more once she gets used to it. It feels secure, with straps and a quick-release front bar, and there was no movement from the mount despite only mounting with two bars and four screws. Highly recommend and it's a great design and perfection if you plan to use your bike with and without a seat. Edit - Added a photo of the mount on my hybrid.
