Columbia needs to work on sizing

Columbia clearly needs to work on sizing. I ordered XL (5 inch inseam) as I wear a size 14 pant. When I opened the package, the pants were too small. I tried them and they were pretty tight. I also ordered a pair of Columbia PFG Backcast Water Shorts in the same size and they were huge. I am attaching comparison pictures. It's really disheartening that a company like Columbia has such a wide range in size. I am returning both shorts.
