I use a ventless range hood and it compares perfectly to the metal hood that comes with charcoal, it helps with odors and steam. For me the most important thing is that it keeps the exhaust clean and running smoothly after several months of use. I looked at the fan and saw there was no oil, no residue, no dirt, nothing dirty, I was amazed. I will keep buying replacements as you can't wash it and why should I when I can buy a new one and make it brand new and clean and cook daily again. Thanks Broan, I appreciate you :)
