On the advice of a friend I bought this for grinding spices. He told me he tried several different ones including some of the big $$$ that cost $150 or more. After all was said and done, he said it was the best he'd ever had and actually bought two of them - one for coffee and one for condiments. The only problem he's ever had was with whole nutmegs. Besides, it worked great for him. And having said that, I bought one too - just for the spices (I'm not a coffee drinker). I use it to grind spices for making BBQ spices. Grinding the spices helps them penetrate deeper into the meat and less spices are needed to give the meat the same flavor. To that end, this little coffee grinder is fantastic and does the job perfectly. Oh, and it's less than $20. I don't think the price can be higher for the same quality. So if you need a spice grinder, these are definitely ones to consider, especially the more expensive ones. UPDATE 07/23/2018. I've used this little guy a few times and still have nothing to complain about. It works well, works quickly and does exactly what I needed it to do - grind spices into powder and then use or grate the meat for grilling/smoking. To that end, the ribs I smoked yesterday were fantastic and this device has done a lot to help how these ribs turned out. I am still very satisfied with this product, especially with the price.
