I have a Roomba 900 series that I use on the first floor of my house. Really wanted to get one for the 2nd floor but couldn't justify the cost. Instead, I went with one of these simpler vacuum cleaners. I am very happy with it. In the morning I put it in the room and press the power button. I leave it clean for an hour and then charge it before heading to the next room. It does a great job of picking up dust, cat hair, and dirt that spreads across wood (I don't have carpet). The dust box packs a lot more than I expected and the vacuum's suction power is excellent. I also love how easy it is to remove the brushes to clean them when things are being wrapped around them. They turn on and off instantly (there is a screw in Roomba that needs to be loosened). Maintenance is also much easier. It doesn't have any of the bells and whistles that a $500 vacuum has, but for a fraction of the cost it's a lot better. I would recommend.
