Dog socks seem silly but to be honest it was a godsend for our older dog. They served us two purposes. 1) She had problems with stability due to atrophy of the muscles in her hind legs. The sock helped her "stick" to surfaces much better, which helped her avoid tears. 2) She developed foot resistance/grass on one leg which meant she scraped her knuckles on the pavement while walking. Her poor knuckles were struggling to heal, but wearing that sock every time she was outside helped protect her enough for her to finally heal. We ended up rubbing holes in two of the socks (imagine dragging them across the pavement like coarse sandpaper), but overall they held up very well. Dog socks frayed barefoot in just one walk! She also couldn't wear traditional doggie shoes as her leg was bruised due to the flat butt. (And they never stayed on her anyway.) These socks were snug fitting/size chart appropriate and were the only socks that stayed on her feet at all with the friction they created when pulled. They were pretty easy to put on by turning them almost completely inside out, tucking the first inch of your toes in, and then flipping them right side out onto your foot. The rubber on the bottom also helped them not get too rough in wet/muddy areas outside. We have about a month longer as our dog is still able to take short walks outside thanks to these socks and we are very grateful for that.
