It serves its purpose, although it immediately felt lighter and cheaper than the 20 year old cap and the cap we replaced after a long service life. As soon as we put it in the dishwasher (top shelf) there was a real problem. The rubber lid has warped around the sealing edge so that it no longer fits snugly on the glass. To make matters worse, the hard plastic center cap has been deformed to the point where it no longer fits properly in the hole. Of course, none of the items claimed to be dishwasher safe, but we've been washing our old ones this way for a couple of decades with no problem. And who today would make hard plastic kitchen utensils that melt like a cheap lunch box on the top shelf of a dishwasher? I've had empty yogurt containers that hold up better than these. Buy them if you need them - not sure if there are better options - but be prepared to hand wash.
