Review on KidCo G1100 Auto Close Gateway: A 37-Inch Pressure Gate for Child and Pet Safety by Jennifer Mitchell

We chose a KidCo gate after a bad experience with an inferior product from a UK company, when in truth both brands of gate were made in China (which isn't these days the case is ?). The gate was easy to put together *although* the instructions were a bit unclear. Installing the first gate took about 20 minutes, but I was able to install the rest much quicker. Some features that distinguish this gate from its competitors: - It is a real hermetic gate. No holes need to be drilled or any hardware attached to anything. As we are renting out our place this was an important consideration for us: - The gate is very strong and well built. Durable materials that I believe will stand up to daily home use. Tools are not required. Just follow the instructions and you're good. The main thing is that the mounting surfaces must be strong and smooth. We have plastered walls, so we had to use thin strips of plywood as the mounting surface. Some negative points: - This gate needs to be monitored. Frequent readjustment (tightening) of the handles that hold the gate frames in place is required, especially if your child likes to push/pull the gate to get through. Not really. I can open this gate with one hand most of the time. My wife managed to do this a couple of times but was unable to (a) press the latch buttons or (b) lift the lever. It may or may not be due to a too tight fit. This is not a problem for us, for some it may be. Overall I would recommend this gate to anyone interested in making their home safer. worth your money!
