Having fluff by the ankle should be enough but the entire inner shoe has this fluff. The back of my heels on both feet rub on this with every step. Wearing sock liners will stop the chaffing. Without it, my heels feel worn and start developing callouses. I also put in gel insoles which helped a lot with keeping the fluff on my soles at bay.Pros -At $50, they're not exactly cheap but they're very affordable for high tops. The construction is okay as is the material but feels more like rubber than leather. Water proofing hasn't been tested but I can already see that unless you step in a puddle that's deeper than where your laces start, you should be fine. Style is very good as is the traction.Cons -Fluff gets annoying. Laces are useless. You'll need to get a new set of 54in laces. The eyelets seemed to be ripping the original laces when tightening them up. Either that or the original laces are just super cheap but they've been torn up and fraying. I'm also not a fan of the logo on the tongue. I went ahead and plucked out the stitching that kept them on and removed them. So much better. In any case, I'm keeping these until they fall apart. I'm estimating I should get at least a couple of years of good use out of them.
