An advert on the Yahoo site, apparently prompted by this purchase, suggests that Pyrex measuring cups are something kitchens just can't live without can get along. Not only can they do the obvious thing they're named after, but they can also measure hot liquids that have just come out of the stove. That's something clear plastic can't do, and you'll flirt with burns if you try a metal guy. But not only that - you can also use it to heat very small portions. For example, reheating Heinz sauce in a jar is enough for a batch of mashed potatoes or leftover toppings. That's why I mention lid in the title.
