I bought these to replace the Harbor Freight calipers (P/N 63711) that I left with a friend in another city. Ever since Harbor Freight raised prices and got rid of coupons, it's not cheap to buy the same items, so I thought I'd keep an eye on them. I also went for something a little more upscale as I regularly use calipers in 3D modelling, home/car improvement projects etc and eventually settled on them. The all-metal construction and weight of this item exudes quality, and the mechanism is MUCH smoother compared to my old Harbor Freight calipers. The 8 inch range has already proven to be handy. I particularly like the easy-to-read display, and while most of my work is in metrics, the fractions came in handy a few times in the week I've had them. And it looks great too. My only complaint is that it doesn't go to zero 100% of the time - I'd say 80-90% of the time it goes back to zero on close, but sometimes it goes back 0.01mm. has absolutely no practical value, it's just a bit annoying. All in all, I'm glad I forgot my old pair at my boyfriend's and decided to switch to these!
