Review on πŸͺ Tomi Adult Bird Kite Launch by Ken Booker

Look elsewhere, it doesn't fly

Assembly was easy, although the direction could have been better. As mentioned in other reviews, the last part doesn't say if you should walk more or less, but it doesn't seem to matter anyway (still doesn't fly). Assembled, looks great, the string winder feels good in the hand so everything looked like fun. Did it with a 2 year old on a windy day. He quickly jumped up in a gust of wind, then quickly leaned sideways and fell sideways until the wing touched the ground. Each subsequent flight was the same. It jumps and looks good for 10-15 seconds at best before going sideways and slamming its wing or nose into the ground. If you look at the videos that have been shared, you can see that they are all around 10-15 seconds long and right at the moment the video cuts off, the kite is going sideways, probably because it was about to fall and was as long as it could fly". Many other reviews give the same description of sideways motion. One even says they love it because they have to dance with it and work to make it fly. I hope you don't plan to taking it to a kite festival or you'll kill other kiters when this thing comes down and will most certainly confuse the others. This is not a stunt kite, it only has a line and cannot be controlled. It's only meant to go up and down does it doesn't though, it has a fundamental design flaw, not sure what needs to be done to get it flying properly, but I'll probably send it back and use the triangular tail style, a tried and true rt design known to fly right. Oh, and that reel is turning out to be pretty awful. Because of the shape, you obviously intend to wrap the rope around it, which just twists the cord. So by the time you reach the last 10 feet of line in front of the kite, everything is twisted and starting to knot and it takes forever to relax. The only way to avoid twisting is to spin the spool, but that takes forever, it's too tight making it difficult to feed the line while spinning. All of this is just useless.

Pros
  • IT'S EASY TO FLY. Whether in the park, on the beach, in the field or anywhere else, the STOIE'S Bird kite is super easy to fly for girls and boys, children and adults alike. This kite really is something for everyone. It is stable in the air and easy to launch.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
