Review on Chemical Guys CLD_203_16 Signature Cleaner by Teo Alston

Was hoping for great results but was unimpressed

My 2018 Escape has 19" factory painted rims and they collect brake dust in a way I've never seen before. After thoroughly cleaning my wheels the week before with two other products that were a big deal, I got my Chemical Guys Signature Series Wheel and Tire Cleaner in the mail and was keen to try it. I followed the instructions exactly, but didn't dilute it because my rims were already pretty black. Carbon brake dust builds up quickly after driving about 100 miles in 50/50 mix mode on roads and highways in dry conditions. After liberally wetting each wheel and then spraying the solution (making sure to hit extra dirt spots twice ), I got a small wheel brush and started cleaning every wheel of any dirt I saw, even getting into the gaps as much as I could. soap solution. I then took my car to the car wash for a final cleaning and removed any remaining traces of rim cleaner or dirt. When I got home and parked, the results were far from brilliant (see photo). About 75-80% of the brake dust and dirt was removed from each wheel, but some of it still remained and I had to go back and try to remove it by hand after it had already air dried. This cleaner comes in a good quality spray bottle and can be diluted to your liking (although this requires an extra bottle) and is also biodegradable and works on tyres, but for me it's no better than any other eco or citrus degreaser I have ever used for wheels. . I think if they filled a spray bottle with a 1:4 solution and then added a small bottle or resealable bag with a 4:1 solution it would make a lot more sense. As it stands I would have to find an empty water bottle to fill most of the concentrate so I can dilute the spray bottle to about 3:1 which is my preferred strength until I use the stuff and never buy it again . I think using it twice to get decent results isn't what I was looking for, so I'll go in a different direction after that. It won't harm your brakes and isn't corrosive, but try to avoid it anyway. One of my cold rotors got oversprayed and when I was driving at low speed I started complaining loudly no matter how gently I braked (even after I hosed them down). This was fixed when I ran it through an automatic car wash outside. And definitely don't use it on bikes that have been ridden for at least a few hours.
