To say I'm disappointed in Tartanista and their kilt skirts is putting it mildly. My husband and I went to an event in mid-February and thought it would be nice if we both dressed alike so I bought 5 kilt skirts from Tartanista hoping one of these designs would match my husband's kilt. Those who weren't, I would just leave for another opportunity. According to the instructions on the page ("Please purchase your normal US size and ignore the Revain sizing information. Slim fit with internal hold button") I ordered my normal size (US size 4). But when skirts came along, some things became painfully obvious. Your US size version does not match actual US sizes. I compared all of their US size 4s to my existing US size 4 skirts and the Tartanista skirts waist measurements were much shorter. This made some of her skirts "skirts" if you will, because they don't wrap completely around the waist. Fully wrapped they leave significant gaps in coverage! I would probably be accused of lewd behavior if I did them in public. 2. Not only do they lack quality control, they don't. I measured all the skirts that came in and the difference in waist length between the Tartanista skirts was just ridiculous. The closest thing to a US size 4 was a plain black size, and even then it was a snug fit. Compared to this black, the Blackwatch was 3.5 inches shorter at the waist, the Black Stewart was 3 inches shorter at the waist, the Irish 20 inches shorter at the waist, and the length was actually 19 inches and the Irish 16.5 Customs service . was 2.5 inches shorter at the waist and only 15 inches long. I emailed them about the discrepancy (hoping they just accidentally sent me a rejection) but Ben very casually said these were minor discrepancies expected from factory made items and that I could backorder , but they cannot guarantee that they will win. There is no difference in size as I have experienced. I understand the factory inconsistencies. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but the 3.5 inch difference is no small discrepancy. That's quite a size difference (try making a men's shirt collar 3.5 inches smaller than it should be and see if it still fits properly). you wear it.3. Quality control part 2. I ended up reordering a pair of skirts and had to use express shipping. This time I ordered one size larger to be on the safe side - something big can always be made smaller and something small is no longer possible. The fit is better, but still not outstanding. The velcro was a lifesaver because it was easier to wear since I could tighten the wrap better. The problem with reordering was the supplied kilt pins. The tips are not smooth and on first use they caught both layers of the black skirt. I think they are disposable skirts. :(Needless to say I returned all the skirts in a size 4. I had to pay for shipping back to the UK even though their product failed. While I understand they pay for exchange shipping it would be nice if they paid for return shipping since then they sent faulty products. I can't understand all the good reviews about the quality of the skirts when I compare them to my own experience. If I could give stars I would.
