Review on Fleck Bottom Distributor Basket 40922 by Steve Hauck

I ordered this because while replacing my water softener filter media and valve head assembly I noticed the lower basket was cracked which has undoubtedly been the cause of water pressure issues for a long time. This allowed some of the filter media to get into the pipes/drain filters on the sinks in the house. Other reviews state what size Schedule 40 (if I remember correctly) is supposed to glue PVC to PVC glue. Also, if you're using a new piece of PVC, check how long it should be depending on the valve/control box you're using. I had a patch that needed a PVC pipe top even with a media tank cap. From my research, some other brands may cut it below or above the top of the tank. Proper trimming for the valve block will ensure that it doesn't push too hard on the PVC pipe when you bolt on the valve control block, causing the lower basket to break. Trust me, you do NOT want this filter material deployed. Your faucet pipes and filters. It hurt to wash off. The faucets that supply water to the toilets also had to be replaced because the screens in them were clogged with filter material. On the other hand, it gave me the opportunity to replace them with newer 1/4 turn valves that are more reliable and only take 1/4 turn to open or close. But enough of my life story. Just learn from my need and do the right thing! Finally, the seller was very helpful by emailing me and answering questions about the installation and a plan of action for removing the media from my pipes and drains.
