Review on πŸ’Ύ Oyen Digital Mobius Pro 2C: High-Performance USB-C RAID Hard Drive Enclosure (3R2-2C-M) by Ellington Gardner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High performance, ideal for RAID0. Build quality feels solid, tool-free slide-ins and a built-in power supply.

I am using two 14TB WD drives in a RAID0 configuration. As you can see from the CrystalDiskMark results (see the first image), the sequential read speed is 423.6 MB/s and the sequential write speed is 426.9 MB/s, which is excellent. The same drive in a standard WD USB3 enclosure only achieves 140.4 MB/s reading and 133.9 MB/s writing (see second image). Pros: - High performance, near-linear scaling for RAID0 - No need to remove 3.3V pins, WD drives are recognized instantly - Case build quality appears solid - Bays require no tools, making drives easy to install insert without messing around with screws. - The power supply is integrated into the device, eliminating the need for an external AC/DC power supply like most competitions. Just use a standard IEC cable. Cons: - The fan is a bit noisy. I could replace it with a Noctua or beQuiet fan. All in all, great if you're looking for a 2-bay RAID0 solution. I can't speak for the long term stability as I just received the item but I will update my review if anything comes up. Update: I've added a fan pic for those interested in the fan swap. This is a 70mm fan with a 2-pin connector. Update 2: I replaced the fan with a 70mm Gelid Silent 5 fan, the case is significantly quieter. You need to connect the cables because the Gelid fan uses a standard 3-pin fan connector.
