I installed four of these in a new kitchen remodel. We wanted a stainless trim to match the appliances. While not exactly stainless and a perfect match, these were the only surface mount LED dimmable lights we could find with a brushed metal trim. They throw the light down with I would guess around a 30 degree angle, but there is enough diffraction through the dome that between all four of them they light the kitchen well. Our walls and ceiling are also white tones, and this helps greatly to spread the light around.They will do the job, and I hope they last, but at less than $10 per light in a four pack, it's a worthwhile gamble. They are definitely not the same quality of fit and finish as the HALO brand we have in other areas. The poly dome over the LEDs attach with three plastic prongs that seem very flimsy and it feels like taking them on and off too many times would eventually cause one to break off. Once installed I don't anticipate taking them off again though except to replace.
