Like all Debbie Bliss books, Celtic Knits has beautiful photography and an attractive, accessible layout. Celtic knitwear has a fairly large variety of patterns - mainly for adults, but there are also some children's and children's patterns. Note, however, that the female models appear too small; You may need to customize if you want to make other sizes. Unfortunately, many patterns seem to either (a) look like a lot of other patterns you've seen lately, or (b) beautiful but not particularly Celtic. I think the theory is that the colors used in the design are meant to have a celtic "vibe" but I just don't see it. Debbie Bliss's usual creative spark seems to be somewhat lacking in this book. One model that really stands out is the long Aran tunic. This sweater is, to me at least, a charming balance of traditional Aran knit with a modern feel. The color, something like purple-pink, and the long shape create a feminine, sweet look. With a few other exceptions, the rest of the models are understated but elegant and beautifully finished. They would be at home by any name other than Celtic Knits. All in all, if you're looking for unique Aran and Fair Isle designs, there are better resources (like Alice Starmore). the rest of the drawings are unobtrusive if they are done elegantly and beautifully.
