Fantastic speakers! I have 5 sets together with 4 Audioengine S8 8" powered subwoofers: Audioengine S8 Black 8" powered subwoofers. I have used Bose Companion 20 speakers before and obviously the audio engine is superior to Bose. I also have several Bose SoundTouch 30s, 20s and 10s and prefer the Audioengine A5+. (I use a set in a small bathroom with no subwoofer.) If you share a wall with a neighbor, you won't be able to use the subwoofer very often. With no subwoofer in my small bathroom, the bass is mediocre, but obviously not strong enough for my liking - it's MUCH better with a subwoofer. Anything else would be disgusting. Two small disadvantages of the subwoofer: • A remote control would be very helpful to adjust the volume of the subwoofer. • It is difficult to see the notch on the adjustment dials. I made a white mark with a white Sharpie marker (Sharpie Extra Fine Point Poster Marker, white).
