Review on 🚍 Thetford 17902 - Titan 20-Foot RV Sewer Hose Kit - Premium Quality by Robert Tyus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent hose if you have the space for it. But it doesn't compete with others.

In this review we compare the Thetford hose directly to the Camco Rhinoflex hose. TLDR Version: Buy Camco. Rationale: I bought this hose to do one thing - my driveway is less than 35 feet from my sewer. I was able to extend my Rhinoflex hose to store at my home. At the time of purchase, it was $15 cheaper than Camco's 20-foot rig. I've been using Rhinoflex for a season now and I'm happy with it. The first thing I noticed about Thetford is that the ends do NOT rotate. It's not a big deal, but it does require a little more fiddling to get it where you need it. Second, the retracted/compressed hose doesn't stay compressed very well when you lift it compared to the Rhino-Flex. This is a type of spanking and you have to hold it in your hands to hold it together. I'm a plumber, but I don't like being so close to my craft. Rhinoflex remains compressed. Third, the Thetford hose does not compress at all compared to Rhinoflex. Thetford only shrinks to 6ft, making it impossible to fit two in the bumper of a standard caravan. The Rhinoflex shrinks to 36 inches and I have no problem fitting two in the bumper. The photos explain what I mean. Fifth, this is the only benefit I could find for Thetford. The material appears to be slightly thicker than Camco, and with the long connectors, the actual length is closer to 22 feet. but I understand some of you might prefer milky white. I want to see clear water flowing and know I'm done resetting. Thetford cannot be disassembled and takes up so much space. Seventh, I had to sand the Camco Rhinoflex on the ports with a belt sander to fit it into my bumper. I didn't remove much material, the stock was very tight and I felt I might have trouble getting it out again. Thetford slipped right into the bumper, but then again you can only install one hose, not both, so the second hose goes. Where in your installation do you want to store Craphose. Verdict: The 15-foot Thetford will likely fit in a standard bumper and be unmanageable. This Thetford hose will live in a box in my garage and I will use it if I decide to dispose of it at home. But the Camco Rhinoflex travels the country with me. And if it erupts because the duct tape can't handle the leak, I'm always happy to buy a Camco again. Remember, almost ANY hose is better than the piece of blue trash hose that came with your RV. Thetford, you are not competitive if your name is on more than half the toilets in every motorhome. You should know better!
