I've been using the same Hansgrohe fitting in bright chrome for a number of years. I loved that faucet like a bright red sports car, but it was always water-stained. You just couldn't use it without dripping some water on it and those drops always landed. Also, they weren't that easy to polish. But damn it was beautiful. I took a chance by going for this brushed nickel finish. No one said there wouldn't be water stains, so I really gambled. I figured it should hide water stains better than polished chrome. But I was wrong. THATS MUCH BETTER. No, a matte finish isn't as attractive as polished chrome. It's a little more sophisticated and quiet, but CLEAR. I also trained myself to use the lever on my wrist like a hospital blade, moving my damp, wet fingers to the side (even that didn't help much with the chrome). This technique plus brushed nickel pretty much solved 98% of the problem. Nickel isn't the same color as stainless steel or chrome, so be prepared for that. You don't really notice this unless you keep the 2 together, but the nickel has the slightest shade of pale gold, while the chrome or stainless steel have a slight bluish cast. No objections, just keep in mind. In my opinion, complaints about water spots can be ignored with this finish.
