I bought this for my MacBook Air because it doesn't have a DVD player. I was so excited to watch DVDs/Movies when I purchased this item. As soon as I connected it to my computer and put the DVD in, the movie would not play. I tried several DVDs and it didn't work, which left me very disappointed. So I finally did my research and read some product reviews and I found out that some computers don't have software for watching movies. So I Googled "VLC Media Player" as some of the reviews say and downloaded it. Then I plugged the DVD player back into my laptop, put the movie in and lo and behold, it started playing the movie! This item works, but you may need to download software like VLC to watch movies.
