Tray locking error in CD and DVD drives

I would like to give this product 5 stars because it perfectly maintains the quality of LG electronics, in addition to its clean, minimalist appearance which is pleasing to the eye - apart from the fact that after about a year and a half the tray no longer stays closed and thus becomes unusable. Everything else about it turns on and still seems fine. I don't know how the internal locking mechanism works, so I can't tell what's wrong. I'm very easy on my equipment. That means: I don't press anyโ€ฆ

Can't read many discs

Purchased in March 2017 because I just got a new computer with an SSD with no DVD drive and figured I might need to write/read/write a disc for something sometimes. So this "something" happened yesterday: I had some old DVDs that I burned 10 or 12 years ago and put in a drawer. They had old data files that I now wanted to upload to my cloud storage system. I know that DVDs and CD-ROMs don't hold data forever and will disappear after a while, and I wanted to erase the data before it becameโ€ฆ

Works but UNDERSTAND if you use it for movies.

I bought this for my MacBook Air because it doesn't have a DVD player. I was so excited to watch DVDs/Movies when I purchased this item. As soon as I connected it to my computer and put the DVD in, the movie would not play. I tried several DVDs and it didn't work, which left me very disappointed. So I finally did my research and read some product reviews and I found out that some computers don't have software for watching movies. So I Googled "VLC Media Player" as some of the reviews say andโ€ฆ

Disc Lock and Disc Read Error

I bought this drive for Christmas last year. It was for school and didn't move from my desk, with the rare exception of when I moved from my desk to my desk. It worked, but as mentioned in the reviews, it stopped reading discs properly after a few months. I've tried the same drives on a laptop's built-in drive and an Xbox 360 and all drives worked with no issues. About 6-7 months after purchase, the tray latch stopped working, just as shown in the video posted. Slightly pressing the top andโ€ฆ
