Review on πŸ“ Magnum-1000 Digital Jewelry Pocket Scale - High Precision 1000g x 0.1g by Daniel Taylor

0.2 gram accuracy for office and school supplies

I received this scale in the mail today. It was sent promptly. It's smaller than I imagined, small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. The weighing platform holds a paper cup, but no more. batteries included. Before use, remove the thin plastic strip from the battery compartment. I used a set of gram calibration weights from my old college chemistry class to test the unit. At first I was impressed. The digital readout showed 1.0 with the 1g test weight, 10.0 with the 10g test weight and 50.0 with the 50g test weight (my largest). Then I tried weights less than a gram. I was disappointed when the scale showed 0.1 less than the actual weight. For example, the scale showed 0.6 on a test weight of 0.7. Then I tried the 1 gram weight again and it showed 0.9. Thus, the accuracy is plus or minus 0.1 grams. For example, if the scale reads 7.2 grams, the actual weight could be between 7.1 and 7.3 grams. That's close enough for my application. I wasn't expecting a very accurate scale for $21. The device turns off after 1 minute unless you add or remove weight. It's annoying, but the scale easily turns back on. There is a calibration button that requires a 500 gram weight (not included). The mode button selects the units of measurement: grams, ounces, etc. The tare button resets the reading. There is also a count button. This scale will be satisfactory for my occasional use. yeah
