Review on Magellan 702211: Secure Bike Mounting Bracket for Enhanced Cycling Experience by Ashlee Washington

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A piece of plastic waste.

This thing is pretty poorly designed in my opinion. The tab at the top that snaps into the device's strap loop is held in place by two very thin pieces of plastic that tend to bend and break even with just a little force applied to them. This is especially problematic if you have a bike with flat bars, drop bars, or upright bars that doesn't have enough flex to release the top of the mount when you turn the bike upside down. This involves loosening it so you can rotate it out of the way and then repositioning and retightening, which can be quite inconvenient for on-the-go or on-schedule repairs. It's also easy to break, even if you get caught in a slow crash that throws you over the bars. This purchase was the second time I've swapped it out and if it wasn't dangerous to read the GPS in one hand while driving I would have given up long ago. This article is only worth reading if you can't find any other way to securely mount the GPS unit to the handlebars, which was the case on my bike. Otherwise, I suggest you use every other possible method.
