Works perfectly! fits GPS, finder and accessories

I fitted this mount to the handlebars of my Honda XR350R and it works great! The GPS device is held securely and I have no problem moving it. So far driven more than 100 km off-road without any problems!

Works as intended

If you're looking for a bike mount for your Magellan Explorist portable navigation system, this is for you. I bought one and installed it on my bike's handlebars and it does a great job of holding a GPS unit. On the other hand, if you don't need a bike mount for your Magellan Explorist GPS device, there's little point in buying one. .

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Tradable

Good product high price

Good product. Holds the GPS firmly, but it's a bit pricey to hold my $100 GPS on my ATV. One broke trying to remove the cover from my quad after a 6 inch ice storm. I think the quality is good, maybe it just broke because it was very cold and the cover froze to the bike. It was good enough that I bought another one but never installed it as I don't really use my GPS anymore. My friends now have GPS so I just make sure I don't lose them or get lost.

Magellan Explorist Bike Mount

The mount works well. I read somewhere that people added velcro to make attachment more secure. I have found that the mount is very secure if you make sure the small plastic tab on the mount clicks into the small hole on the GPS, usually with an audible click. However, I have to admit that I don't do the roughest bike rides (jumping over tree trunks, etc.). I would give it five stars but I had a little trouble turning the handlebars. I had to keep pulling up. However, now it seems solid.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • So-so

Bad design for mountain bikes

This mount has a number of disadvantages that make it difficult to recommend. First, mountain bikes typically have handlebars that are wide at the stem and narrow towards the handlebars. If you have a mountain bike, there's a good chance the mount won't fit your handlebars. Second, if it fits, the weight of the eXplorist will cause the mount to twist while you ride unless you really tighten it. This is especially bad if you have a carbon rod. You may be able to fit the mount close to the stem…

A piece of plastic waste.

This thing is pretty poorly designed in my opinion. The tab at the top that snaps into the device's strap loop is held in place by two very thin pieces of plastic that tend to bend and break even with just a little force applied to them. This is especially problematic if you have a bike with flat bars, drop bars, or upright bars that doesn't have enough flex to release the top of the mount when you turn the bike upside down. This involves loosening it so you can rotate it out of the way and…
