Review on MEECO'S RED DEVIL 4oz High-Performance Black Stove Polish by Rashad Ross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product when used correctly

I am so sorry I did not receive the instructions and advice I am going to give 5 years ago today when I bought my wood burner Cooking Stove Facing the FlameAfter enduring a rusty and varnished cooktop and 4 years of wiping, buffing, rubbing, and polishing every known type of material that any YouTube video or blog would recommend, I finally have the original air conditioner for all hobs found and cast iron The plate is black. All of this is a mixture of paraffin and charcoal or charcoal. I bought a phone with pumice stone and removed as much of the rust and stains as I could from the surface of my stove. My hob is solid steel plate, not stainless. The stove is finished with cast iron and nickel. The trick is to apply the thinnest coat of oven black you can. This can be accomplished by applying it when the kiln is at a room temperature of around 70 degrees - if the kiln is too warm it will quickly soak in resulting in lots of smoke and product waste after you've lit the kiln. If you apply too cold you won't get any penetration and it takes a lot more effort. If you apply a small drop it should just stay there like a piece of chocolate at 70° - as soon as you raise the temperature by a few degrees by rubbing it will melt/mix with the metal surface. Massage vigorously and continue rubbing until everything is absorbed very evenly and smoothly. I went through this process twice before attempting to light the stove. The surface of the plate already looked pretty good. As soon as I lit the stove there was no smoke at all. it smelled faintly of burnt wax. I also applied it to the cast iron liner and wiped the nickel off. After the oven cooled, I did the same thing, applying two more thin coats. So far no rust has returned and the finish looks great. I plan on applying again but for now the surface of the oven looks fine next to the surface of a properly finished cast iron skillet. So I highly recommend this product, I would give it 5 stars except that there are no instructions and end up getting crappy reviews about smoke and other issues. If they gave instructions in this review, 100% of people would find this product totally acceptable.
