It is very light and the ventilated upper allows air to flow in and out. I was concerned that the darker color (mine is dark grey) would be too hot, but it made no difference in direct sunlight all day when working outdoors. The fields are large and protect my ears, neck and face from the sun, just like I wanted. I also love the fact that there is a second drawstring at the back of the hat that pulls the hat around your head so it really is a one size hat. And you can't beat the price. I'll probably buy another one in a different color just to have on hand. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a durable sun protection hat.
