Having bought NUMEROUS cheese slicers over the years, I have to say that some of the comments from others made me buy this cut and "try it". I like to buy cheddar cheese in blocks. (as well as Colby cheese). Previous food slicers have only disappointed me because they simply did not meet my expectations for a light and convenient food slicer. I've used wire cutters, which break easily, knives said to be made for hard cheese, and various other slicers. All of this disappointed me. But this one, I have to admit, worked GREAT! It does a great job of slicing our cheddar cheese. He cuts it into a nice "not so thick, not so thin" slice. Perfect to put on our sandwiches or to put on our nacho chips and reheat in the microwave. My wife told me that this is probably the best slicer I've ever bought for slicing cheese and I can't help but agree. Although I have one, I was considering getting a second one as a backup. ADVANTAGES: Perfect cut every time, good assembly, easy to use (for people with arthritis). CONS: Not known.
