i love color Relaxation? Wouldn't buy again

---- PROS: * The color is superb. It's like a festival of colors in India, whatever you look at. Your eyes will smile. I'm not a designer, I just needed color to display vivid photos, games and especially movies (we use my computer as a media center). This monitor offers full. Once you see 10-bit color in something like a Pixar film (WALL-E), every other display you see, including 8-bit IPS, plasma displays and even cinema projectors, looks dull and washed out. Hell, even most of the real world isn't as interesting to look at as this screen. I don't notice streaks in the things I spend time with. My girlfriend also appreciates color in movies and is always jealous when we see the same thing on my screen and her TN panel. at 27" is much sharper than 1920x1200 at 24" (I had two high-quality screens from different manufacturers with this resolution). The x1080 has always felt washed out to me at over 22 inches, but it's particularly noticeable once you get used to it. Even if you lean very close, the sharpness is noticeable. I've also had the 30" 1600P version (U3014); they're roughly comparable in sharpness, perhaps with a slight edge over the 27" but it's very close if you're looking for a gap between two 10-bits . * Simple navigation menu, mostly good options. Some settings limit other settings for no apparent reason.* Smooth and easy ergonomic adjustment.* Deeper blacks than many IPS screens. There is no visible glow. No dead pixels detected. being directly behind me can be bad in the sunniest part of the day.* I sit at this screen and/or 24" Ultrasharp most of the day and my eyes don't dry out or get unusually tired. There is no known PWM flickering on this screen and its brightness is greatly reduced to avoid eye strain. I used to get very tired eyes when viewing the HP ZR24W (CCFL backlit, 1200P) at minimum brightness in a well-lit room, and I've seen an improvement with this screen. ---- CONS: * Like its older brother U3014, this panel has terrible overshoot. Even when scrolling up and down web pages, you can see a double shadow of everything on the screen, including text. It's hard to see in the video, but overall the motion looks blurry. -1 Star* WHY ARE THERE NO PHYSICAL BUTTONS? Touch buttons suck. They are too delicate and difficult to handle. Often they register a few clicks when I lightly touch the button, sometimes they register nothing at all. Strong winds (e.g. air from a ceiling fan) or nearby electronic devices such as phones or a moving mouse will trigger the Touch Light - without exaggerating. I use other Dell Ultrasharp screens that have physical buttons and are much simpler and more reliable. The touch keys are not a high-end "feature", they are unnecessarily annoying. They will strongly advise me against future purchases of Dell monitors. They're more important than you might think, except you never change any settings, including brightness, and you're not distracted by flashing lights in the lower-right corner of your field of view. -1 Star* Displayport doesn't work anymore. The port no longer detects a signal. Use DVI instead. I would give it one star but this thing has so many connectors it's hard to fault it for one fault. * The build quality is normal (everything is plastic except for the metal bar and the plate under the stand which is plastic). Otherwise pretty bland, no Samsung 9er here. Easy to smudge/fingerprints. I modified the inside of my stand using a rotary cutter to rotate 360* (the base is attached to my desk otherwise it would tip over if rotated more than 150*), but otherwise only 45 at a time * turned to the side. * I haven't tried dedicated USB 3.0 devices to test the claims of other browsers. However, the SD card reader doesn't work with the card I have to test.* Overall, too many issues for an $800-$1,000 monitor. I expect a monitor with the flaws and quirks of this screen to be significantly cheaper and I won't be buying it again. -1 star. As the competition grows at 1440P+ resolution, these screens will be hard to sell. However, I am grateful to have one and enjoy it every day, just wouldn't choose it over others if I could go back.

Pros
  • I'm working on 28,000 photos. This monitor is a delight. No disadvantages
Cons
  • Image quality is not impressive for a high-end monitor.
