I've been using these filters for a few years now and I think it would make more sense to just buy disposable paper filters instead. Certainly the K&N product works great and appears to be very durable. But cleaning the filter, buying and stocking up on detergent and oil is kind of a PITA for those who don't have a garage. And you should let the filter dry after cleaning. You also have to be careful not to put too much oil on the filter (but not too little either). Obviously this is more art than science. I will leave the K&N filter on until I run out of detergent and oil (probably another few years) and then replace it with a new paper filter. No, I haven't noticed any noticeable increase in performance or fuel economy with the K&N filter. I don't have a Cold Air Intake Kit or any other mods.
